Beatport Transforms Music Discovery with New DJ Web App
Beatport’s new web application allows you to DJ and edits your sets in your browser. The new web app syncs your playlists across software and hardware with Beatport Link. Beatport has launched a new web application called Beatport Dj which is similar to Dj Software and allows you to organize playlists, discover tracks, and most importantly browse the Beatport catalog. Beatport Dj includes two decks with waveform view, all traffic of the song, tri-band EQ and filter per channel, crossfader and beacon buttons, as well as loop and sync options.
There are also 10 different Effects that can be selected from an X / Y pad per Setup. For example, when you click the waveform to the next parts of a track, all sounds stay in sync. The Automix option will automatically collate a playlist you can use to try Mixes of different tracks or just as a listening tool during the day.
Below the track view, you can browse Beatport’s entire catalog, including your own handpicked playlists, and create your own catalog for later purchase and download. And you can sync it with any device that supports Beatport Link. This means you can set up, mix, add or change playlists while you’re on the go. It has it all ready for you when you log in to a device that supports Beatport Link, such as the Denon DJ SC6000 media player.
Active tips, loops, and other edits aren’t yet synced across devices or software. Beatport DJ supports hardware MIDI Controllers via a web browser. But only Pioneer DJ DDJ-200 will work normally. Other controls of Hercules, Pioneer DJ, Denon DJ, and Numark need manual MIDI mapping.
Jonas Tempel, the founder of Beatport, said: “We designed the software to solve the tedious workflow challenges of discovering music and creating Link playlists. Moreover, we know that our customers must choose tracks to make sure the song fits their set. Our solution combines a range of advanced web-based technologies to provide users with a truly effortless experience you’d expect from custom desktop software.”
As it stands, users will need a Beatport Link subscription to get the most out of Beatport DJ. This subscription starts at $ 14.99 per month and a free 30-day trial is also available. This is a testament to the power of the modern browser, as well as Beatport’s vision of links. As a true voice-based platform, it is an application that you can access at home from any device, taxi, going to a concert, or during set preparation. You can try Beatport DJ yourself here.
