OUR WEEKLY INTERVIEW GUESTS
Lysa Chain is an Italian deejay and producer. After a long journey of studies and experiences in the world of live shows as a singer and musician, she has begun to play as a deejay in 2017 performing at the wish summer adventure festival under the alias of e-Lisa, together with international top artists such as Martin Garrix, Vinai, Deorro, Quintino and many others. Always passionate about electronic music and fascinated by live PA, she started the music evolution that brings her closer to techno and melodic techno sounds, so she decided to create a new alias in order to identify herself in the genre.
Hence, Lysa Chain was born, a project that aims not only to release new unreleased tracks but also to perform live, using analog instruments in their DJ sets, such as drum machines, synthesizers, controllers, wind instruments such as the flute, or particular instruments like the handpan combined with melodically more refined sounds in the world of electronics.
In 2020 Lysa Chain begins to release her first productions, like the EP "Gravity", released on Red Eclipse recordings, and her latest single "Turn off your mind" recently released on the label "on Circle", in which her other unpublished works will be released soon. During the Lockdown, she obviously couldn't perform live anymore, so she decided to release some of her live sets recorded in isolated places and in total safety on her Youtube channel.
How Dıd You Get Into Djıng?
I started DJing as soon as I finished my electronic music production studies. I started working in the entertainment industry as a singer/dancer since I was a child, but once I finished my studies I felt the need to change. From here, the desire to start an electronic project that included not only a DJ set but also an actual live set with instruments together.
Is There A Dj That You Inspıres You And See As An Idol?
I can’t see any Dj as an “idol”, we are all artists/musicians who have a single purpose, which is to convey their love for music to the world and leave (in the case of producers) a mark of the passage of their / our art in a specific historical period. For this reason, for me, every Dj who wants to convey his love for music and give emotion to those who are in front of him is, already, an idol!
Does The Dj Absolutely Have To Have Notation And Musıc Knowledge?
Musical knowledge is essential not only to create a song but also to make a nice mix. So yes. Definitely.
Does The Dj Have A Retırement Age Or A Tıme To Quıt? Can You Be Left Djıng?
In my opinion, there is no age to quit. As long as the body and the desire to be a DJ above all allow it, I can’t see the need to stop. Moreover, nobody forbids a DJ of a ripe old age to create his own “successors”, giving them the right directives. I would do it! I would have liked to have had a mentor by my side during my professional growth.
Is There A Mıx, Song, Or Track You Wouldn’t Mınd If I Dıdn’t Play At A Party?
I definitely don’t like playing reggaeton at a party! haha (I hate it). Hard to say what is my favorite song! haha I can say, however, that since Sam Paganini’s song “Rave” came out there was no party in which I haven’t played it, and, yes … I still like it a lot.
Do They Have A Goal In Musıc And Djıng?
My goal is to grow, learn new things, and always amaze with something different during my performances. Being a Dj yes, I enjoy it, but playing an instrument during a DJ set increases my creativity. I love it! Well … if I don’t complicate my life, I’m not happy haha: P
How Have You Been Affected By Covıd-19?
My goal is to grow, learn new things, and always amaze with something different during my performances. Being a Dj yes, I enjoy it, but playing an instrument during a DJ set increases my creativity. I love it! Well … if I don’t complicate my life, I’m not happy haha: )
How Can You Explaın The Dj’s Sıtuatıon Durıng The Pandemıc?
The situation of the DJ during the pandemic … was the same for the whole “entertainment” sector, no one excluded. Artists, operators, promoters, all in the same boat, forced into lifeboats while we were watching the boat sink! We all know that in this sector there is no income without nights out in clubs … Even if you are a DJ and you sell your music it is not enough, unfortunately … unless you are clearly the David Guetta/world-famous kind of DJ, but that’s not my case.
What Do You Thınk About The Quaıty Djs In The Market And Your Phenomenon Djs?
Today technology has greatly simplified the work of DJs. even a 5- a year-old child can improvise himself as such. This does not mean “being a DJ”. The real DJ makes his way along a musical path that is constantly evolving. Today the DJ must not only know how to set 2 records in time and make people move, but he must also be an entrepreneur of himself since the competition is so great
Can You Be A Dj Wıth Innate Talent? Or Could It Be A Natural Dj Talent?
Djing is a profession that definitely requires talent.
What Are Your Recommendatıons For New Djs?
Before the covid19 emergency, I would have said: “study music and don’t stop only at the simple figure of the DJ”. Post covid … well … We will have to roll up your sleeves because you will have to break a door that has been closed for too long. We are losing a good slice of the generation that was already having hard times to reach in the underground world due to the fashion of the moment (like “reggaeton” and so on)
Is It Intentıonal For Djs To Use Female Vocals? Or Is It Just A Coıncıdence?
I think depending on the song, they choose the most suitable voice. There are no rules, only feelings, and ideas.
Is There A Standard For Electronıc Musıc In The World? And Do You Thınk There Is An Improvement?
In my opinion, there is no standard … it is called electronics precisely because it includes all those genres that are made through analog and digital instruments, therefore electronic instruments, so the possibility of experimenting or mixing multiple genres is wide. An improvement now … who could say? If before it was a maybe, now I just don’t know.
What Do You Thınk Of Now You Tech?
It is a very well maintained and managed channel. It has excellent musical proposals and I think it can continue to grow. That’s what I wish them!
